Description
The name uruli is derived from the Tamil word, urulai, meaning a round bowl used for the purpose of cooking and preparing Ayurveda medicines. The uruli is one of the ancient and the most common cooking utensils, found in almost every south Indian home.
Hindalium is a composed of aluminium, magnesium, manganese, chromium and silicon etc. Utensils manufactured using this alloy are strong and hard, low priced compared to stainless steels, has a fine finish, are scratch-resistant, are easy to clean and do not absorb much heat. Unlike lightweight aluminium utensils, which are highly reactive with acidic foods (like tomatoes), anodized (hindalium) uruli is safe.
